Frequently Asked Questions
Does my new restaurant need a fire suppression system?
Yes. Any commercial cooking operation that produces grease-laden vapors requires a fire suppression system per NFPA 96. This includes restaurants, food trucks with fixed cooking equipment, commercial kitchens in hotels and hospitals, and any facility with deep fryers, griddles, or open flame cooking. The system must be UL 300 listed and installed by a licensed technician.
What is involved in a fire suppression system installation?
Installation starts with a site survey to assess your cooking equipment layout, hood configuration, and gas/electrical connections. We design the system to cover every cooking appliance with the correct number and placement of nozzles. The piping is run through the hood and plenum, tanks are mounted, the detection line is installed above the cooking surface, and all shutoffs are tied in. The system is then tested, tagged, and ready for inspection by the Authority Having Jurisdiction.
How long does installation take?
A typical restaurant kitchen installation takes one to two days depending on the complexity of the layout and the number of cooking stations. We coordinate with your schedule to minimize disruption to your business.
Can you install a system in an existing restaurant?
Yes. We install new systems in existing kitchens as well as new construction. If you are replacing an old dry chemical system with a modern wet chemical system, we handle the removal of the old equipment and installation of the new system.
